Greg Brennan - Golden Valley

Golden Valley by Greg Brennan

Greg Brennan's Golden Valley celebrates the contribution agricultural pursuit has, and continues to make to the health of our country's economy.  Agriculture has been the   backbone of industrial enterprise throughout New South Wales from its earliest colonial days.

A HG ute is the canvas for Greg's intricately painted montage depicting cropping and grazing activities which generate the wealth that is the lifeblood of country communities throughout the state.  Activities portrayed in detail by the collection include shearing, feed crop irrigating, cotton picking, and wheat harvesting.

Greg Brennan is enjoying more time for his true passions these days; his wife, children, grandchildren . . . . and painting.
At age 73, Greg recently retired from construction and farming to return to his first love - art.

Winning a commercial art scholarship while still at school, Greg studied by correspondence before entering the construction industry. As a hobby, he continued to paint, entering art exhibitions in the Central West of New South Wales and metropolitan Sydney.

Well recognized and awarded throughout the Central West, Greg's work has won him numerous prizes over the past 40 years including 1st prize at Gilgandra, Bourke, Dubbo Art Society, Dubbo Riverfest 2007, Lexus Mortimore ("Still Life"), Peak Hill, Narrendera, Yanco, and twice at Lions Club of Wellington. Highly commended prizes were awarded to Greg's paintings at Gulgong, Gilgandra, Dubbo, Wellington, Peak Hill, Condobolin, Narromine, Lexus Mortimore 2006 and Rotary Club of Umina Beach. In addition, as a teacher with Western College of Advanced Education, Greg fosters artist development by conducting workshops in outlying areas.

In 1988, Greg joined a large farming operation and found it difficult to find time over the ensuing 14 years to keep up in the art scene. However, Greg says "in retirement, I now have the time to pursue my love of art and pick up some lost ground."
